Dave Shaffer is a native of the Texas Coastal Prairie,
having moved to Austin in 2003. Once there, he discovered the paradise that is the Texas Hill Country. The miles of two-lane blacktop offered unlimited photo opportunities... narrow low-water bridges crossing cypress-lined creeks; green pastures surrounded by limestone cliffs; granite outcroppings rimmed with mesquite and cedar; and the vast, seemingly unending vistas so common in the heart of Texas. Dave has worked as a ditch-digger, a welder, a cavalry scout in the US Army, a police officer, a gunsmith & CHL instructor, and is currently in the private security field. He's traveled rather extensively throughout Texas and the United States; however, nearly all of his earlier work was lost forever in a house fire. Lost, but not forgotten. A native of Bay City, Texas, Dave is a graduate of Bay City High School (Class of '75); he received his Bachelor's degree from Stephen F Austin State University (Class of '88) while working as a police officer for the Nacogdoches Police Department. With the exception of a photography class back in high school, all of his learning has been in the real world. He has no particular style, and prefers to shoot what is found naturally. |
